Songbird, in Bath

I was sitting outside the Apple Store watching Matt Owen play this great track. It’s Songbird by Fleetwood Mac, but you knew that anyway!

Waiting for Eric

I saw Eric Clapton play live on Wednesday night. This was my first Eric concert and my first concert in the Royal Albert Hall (actually, first time ever in the Royal Albert Hall.) After two performances at the O2 recently, I was stunned at the intimacy of the Hall.

We had peachy seats near the front which allowed for great views and the acoustics were amazing. I thought it was so cool that before the show you could go and look at the stage. Admittedly there was only a carpet and a drum kit, but how often do you get that close?

What was even cooler was at the end, the crowd surged to the stage seemingly unhindered by Hall staff. In this day of Health and Safety that delighted me!

I tried to take some pictures of the event but the HDR process was too slow and the standard camera just saturated the shot. Here are a few shots before and during the show :-)

New Adventures in Photosynth

My new favourite iPhone app is Photosynth from Microsoft. The app works to create a 360 degree picture by stitching together multiple images that you take. Unlike previous image stitching apps, this works dynamically to build the picture as you take pictures, so you can see which bits need to be snapped to build the picture.

At the moment, the results aren’t perfect but this may be my rush to get the photos taken. However, for a free app the results are brilliant! I have taken a number of shots now, from a wood to inside the O2, by the river Thames and inside the Royal Albert Hall.

This app replaces HDR Pro as my favorite camera app but I still have to try slow shutter and some tilt shift apps. Are there any others I should be playing with?

Do let me know what you think of my pictures :-)

The Wall: In Pictures

On my second trip to see The Wall with Roger Waters I had a much better seat from which I could take pictures. Just using the iPhone menat there was little hope for zoom shots but it was good enough to capture the specatcle and grand visuals on the Wall.

Here are one or two pictures, with loads more on Flickr.

Pink Floyd The Wall – Live in 1980

Following on from the previous post, here is The Wall as it was shot back in 1980. Taken live from Earl’s Court.

A quick Google showed me this was also a knock off DVD/Video at one point. You can find out more here.

Hey Preacher, leave them kids alone!

Whilst we are on the subject of Pink Floyd, I shot this video recently of a young guitarist in Bath. Whilst he was playing a firebrand preacher was on the street sharing his particular views. The juxtaposition was too good not to share…

Roger Waters: The Wall

Roger Waters performed The Wall, live in London this week. The show was nothing short of brilliant. The music was great, the visuals were impactful and the whole experience unforgettable.

Naturally, the thing to do these days os go to YouTube to see who had filmed it. Someone in the US shot the whole thing and edited it together in HD. This playlist runs the full concert, start to finish (just under two hours.) Until the official DVD comes out, this is what I will be watching!
